We’ve talked about The Nyssa Circle and how our fine jewelry is made with sustainable precious metals and gemstones, but that’s not the full extent of our efforts to be durable. Every other aspect of our business model was designed to embrace the sustainability ethos. Our product packaging is sustainably-sourced and produced, and our corporate office and logistics headquarters adhere to strict sustainability standards as well. We also do our part in protecting and enhancing the environment and local mining communities.
It has been our goal since day one to help preserve mother nature for future generations and to give back to local mining communities. We’re well aware that the mining industry can have negative effects on the environment, such as water pollution, soil erosion, loss of biodiversity, and the formation of sinkholes. To help preserve the environment, we work with partners in Africa and around the world to develop and sustain landscapes that simultaneously enhance rural livelihoods, conserve biodiversity and ecosystem services, and sustainably produce crops, livestock, fish, and fiber. We also craft some of our collections in recycled gold to reduce the demand for new gold mining.
The sales revenue of select jewelry collections, like the Moyo Collection, is invested back in local mining communities. Ten percent of the total purchase value of Moyo gemstones is given back to the female miners who helped the making of this collection possible. This money is then put into education, vocational training, equipment, and other important things like transportation for the miners from their remote villages to the actual mining sites.
We hope this spirit of doing good for others and the environment is passed back to you when you wear our pieces, making them extra special.
